What is HotPlugins?

Hotplugins is a suite of professional grade web applications and dynamic web content that you can use for your website.  For example, you can offer free email services @yourdomain.com by using our plug-in-email application.

How Many Plug-Ins can I use?

You can use any plug-ins offered by HotPlugins.com.  Once you join up as a Network Partner, you can create whatever plug ins you like.

I have several websites, each with different domains, do I have to register a different HotPlugins Account for each of my website?

No, you only need 1 HotPlugins.com account.  You can create many instances of each plug-in we offer, and customize each one to fit into each of your websites.

How customizable is HotPlugins.com?

HotPlugins is extremely customizable.  You can customize each plug in to look exacly like your website so that you visitor will think that they are still at your website.

Is it FREE to join?

Why, yes, absolutely!

  1. Can I change the HTML code/s for the plugins?

    You are welcome to change your HTML code to fit into your website design. However, if you modify it and have problems, we can not help you. Your best bet is to get the HTML code again and start over.

  2. Where do I get the HTML codes that I can use to insert into my website?

    You can retrieve your HTML code for each of the plug-ins you created by logging into your Control Panel. "Get HTML Code" after you have created a plug-in instance.

  3. How do I copy and paste the HTML code into my web page?

    You should be able to highlight the HTML code with your mouse. Go to "Edit" and choose "Copy" on your web browser. Then go to your web page editor, and place the HTML code where you want. If you still have problems, see below for more details:

If you are having problems with HTML in general, please go to the A Beginner's Guide to HTML. It has a lot of information for writing HTML documents.

The HTML code to place your ListPower "Join List" form onto your web site may be obtained with the "Get HTML Code" command in the List Owner Control Center of ListPower.

Always use a browser and verify any changes you make to your web page.

  1. Plain Text Editors

    Here are directions for inserting your ListPower HTML code using a plain text editor:

    1. Start an authoring tool (e.g. Notepad) and Open the source code for your web page.
    2. Copy and Paste* your ListPower HTML code and Save the file.
    3. If your web page is on a remote server, upload the changes to the server.

    *Copying is a standard function which almost all Windows and Mac applications have. To Copy, highlight the text using the mouse and choose Edit from the menu bar at the top and then select Copy (Ctrl C). To Paste, place the cursor where you want to begin the ListPower HTML code and select Edit then select Paste (Ctrl V).

    If you are having problems with submitting your changes, perhaps you are having permissions problems. Check with your system administrator for help with updating your web page.

     


  2. Netscape Composer

    Here are directions for inserting your ListPower HTML code using Netscape Composer:

    1. On the menu bar, choose Edit | Preferences
    2. Choose Composer | Publishing
    3. Uncheck Maintain links and Keep images with page
    4. Click OK
    5. On the menu bar, choose Insert | HTML Tag
    6. Paste* the ListPower HTML code exactly as it was given to you.

      IMPORTANT! Make sure the cursor is flush against the end of the ListPower HTML code with no spaces or linebreaks. This editor is extremely picky. If the cursor is not flush against the end of the ListPower HTML code, you'll get a Premature close of tag error message.

    7. Click OK

    That's it. You should see a yellow link symbol appear. If you preview the page, you should see the form. If you are using Netscape to publish your site, please remember to click Select None under Publish.

    *Copying is a standard function which almost all Windows and Mac applications have. To Copy, highlight the text using the mouse and choose Edit from the menu bar at the top and then select Copy (Ctrl C). To Paste, place the cursor where you want to begin the ListPower HTML code and select Edit then select Paste (Ctrl V).


  3. Netscape Gold

    Here are directions for inserting your ListPower HTML code using Netscape Gold:

    1. On the menu bar, choose Options | Editor Preferences
    2. Click the Publish tab
    3. Uncheck Maintain links and Keep images with page
    4. Click OK
    5. On the menu bar, choose Insert | HTML Tag
    6. Paste* the ListPower HTML code exactly as it was given to you.

      IMPORTANT! Make sure the cursor is flush against the end of the ListPower HTML code with no spaces or linebreaks. This editor is extremely picky. If the cursor is not flush against the end of the ListPower HTML code, you'll get a Premature close of tag error message.

  4. AOL Personal Publisher Version 2

    Here are directions for inserting your ListPower HTML code using AOL Personal Publisher Version 2:

    1. Go to Personal Publisher
    2. Select Edit Page
    3. Click the HTML button on the Add Contents Box.
    4. Paste* the ListPower HTML code into the Free-From HTML box.
    5. Click OK
    6. Then click on View
    7. Finally click on Publish after you see the form.

    Remember that you can always revert to the backup file if your page becomes too messed up to handle.

    *Copying is a standard function which almost all Windows and Mac applications have. To Copy, highlight the text using the mouse and choose Edit from the menu bar at the top and then select Copy (Ctrl C). To Paste, place the cursor where you want to begin the ListPower HTML code and select Edit then select Paste (Ctrl V).


  5. AOL Press

    Here are directions for inserting your ListPower HTML code using AOL Press:

    1. Launch AOL Press.
    2. Click on Tools
    3. Select Show HTML (It is in this mode where you should Copy and Paste* the ListPower HTML code)
    4. Make sure you Paste the ListPower HTML code after the <BODY > tag and before the </BODY> tag.

    Remember that you can always revert to the backup file if your page becomes too messed up to handle.

  6. FrontPage

    Here are directions for inserting your ListPower HTML code using FrontPage:

    1. Open your HTML document.
    2. Place the Insertion Point at the location you want your link or where you would like to enter your ListPower HTML code.
    3. Select INSERT from the menu bar.
    4. Select HTML MARKUP
    5. Enter your ListPower HTML code (Complete with brackets, etc.) NOTE: You must type in the ListPower HTML code manually (you cannot Copy and Paste)!
    6. Press OK.

    This should insert the ListPower HTML code into your page. Please note that it won't show the ListPower form unless your network connection is active!


  7. Page Mill

    Here are directions for inserting your ListPower HTML code using Page Mill:

    1. Place the cursor where you want to place the ListPower HTML code and type <!--NOEDIT-->
    2. Select Edit | Paste
    3. Type <!--/NOEDIT--> after the ListPower HTML code.
    4. Now Save your document and FTP or upload it to your server (if necessary).

    Make sure the ListPower HTML code is placed after the <BODY > tag and before the </BODY> tag.


  8. Web TV

    Here are directions for inserting your ListPower HTML code using Web TV:

     

    1. Place the cursor where you want to begin the ListPower HTML code.
    2. Type in your ListPower HTML code.
    3. Save your document and submit it for publishing online.

    IMPORTANT! Make sure the ListPower HTML code is placed after the <BODY > tag and before the </BODY> tag. You must write down your ListPower HTML code on a piece of paper from the List Owner Control Center. Make sure that you write it down accurately. Make sure it is correct and without any typos as they will change the function of the ListPower HTML code. If you don't see the form or your page doesn't look right, your ListPower HTML code is probably in between the wrong tags, so go back and move the ListPower HTML code either higher or lower on the page.


  9. WebSpawner

    Here are directions for inserting your ListPower HTML code using WebSpawner:

    1. Go to Create Web Page (or Modify Webpage if you already have one)
    2. Place the cursor where you want to place the ListPower HTML code and type <!-- begin -->
    3. Paste* the ListPower HTML code.
    4. Type <!-- end --> after the ListPower HTML code.

To Copy, highlight the text using the mouse and choose Edit from the menu bar at the top and then select Copy (Ctrl C). To Paste, place the cursor where you want to begin the ListPower HTML code and select Edit then select Paste (Ctrl V).


  10. Other HTML editors

    Here are directions for inserting your ListPower HTML code using other HTML editors:

    1. Remember to save a backup of your HTML file before editing.
    2. There should be an option to Insert HTML or View HTML. It is in this mode that you want to Copy and Paste the ListPower HTML code.
    3. To Copy, highlight your ListPower HTML code using the mouse and Select Edit then select Copy*
    4. After you've decided on where to insert the ListPower HTML code, place the cursor where you want to begin the ListPower HTML code and select Edit then select Paste*
